Education

I hold a Master of Arts (MA) degree from the University of Art and Design Media Lab
UIAH, Helsinki, Finland. The Media Lab is a unit in the Department of Media, in the
School of Art and Design in the new Aalto University.

The mission of the Media Lab is to explore, discover and comprehend the new digital
technology and its impact in society; to find and exploit the possibilities it opens to
communication, interaction and expression and to evaluate, understand and deal with
the challenges it poses to design and creative production.

Media Lab is characterized by the collaboration of people from a wide variety of
disciplines and cultures, with students and staff from all over the world. The studies
are conducted in English.

My Masters program for media professionals is oriented to managing and producing;
strategic planning and business development; and respect of academic traditions:
independent, critical, expert, and international.

I love to exploit new scientific and technological possibilities to benefit real peoples’
needs and I find humanistic, aesthetic, artistic, and social issues very relevant when
developing new applications, spaces, tools and services.

For my final thesis, MAI Garden, I communicated with elderly people, doctors,
programmers, art therapists, designers, artists, neurologists, psychologists, disabled
people, and ordinary people.

The concept of my final thesis is an innovative end-to-end digital communication and
interaction solution that helps the old and functionally impaired individuals receive
multisensory stimuli, communicate with their friends and families, and manage their
affairs electronically.

INTERNATIONAL FORUMS AND CONGRESS PARTICIPATION
My favourite thing is exploring new contacts and perspectives and I have thoroughly
enjoyed e.g. in MIDEM in Cannes, France; Era 05 World Design Congress [Icsid and
Icograda] in Copenhagen, Denmark; Siggraph in Los Angeles and New Orleans, USA;
EMMA European Media Masters Forum in Angoulême, France; and Sydney Design
in Sydney, Australia.

LANGUAGES
My native language is Finnish and I also speak fluent English, reasonable Swedish
and basic Russian and French.
